Collaboration works

I am working with an artist called Larry Fogg on a collaborative piece. I am making the ceramic pieces and larry will add additions of wood and other materials. We tried a few experiments a few months ago and now work is in progress for an exhibition in The Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny, Ireland in August.

I had a few busy months preparing the work before I left for Jingdezhen in China. These pieces are Raku fried stoneware. They are quite large ( its hard to get an idea of size without an comparison). I handrooled the clay to a thickness of about 1.5 cm. If they were made too thin, they would crack both in the Raku firing and also when Larry works with them by incorporating them into the wood.
