A few months ago the Irish animation company changed their logo. I have been commissioned to make mugs for the company and I made this last batch of 20 mugs before I left for Jingdezhen, China. Each mug is hand thrown on the wheel using Scarva Porcelain and the handles are pulled and attached at the leather hard stage. The inside is glazed with a transparent glaze and the outside is glazed with a Matt white. The decal is fired to 700 degrees. Each mug is fired 3 times. I did a few experiments with the glaze and the decals and because the Matt white has a slight uneven surface the decal looked grainy therefore I decided to use a shiny transparent on the inside of the mug. I like the Matt surface as the mug has a nice hand feel.
